Bobby Byrd
Bobby Byrd, author of nine books of poetry, founded Cinco Puntos Press in 1985 with his wife, Lee Merrill Byrd. Bobby recently co-edited the upcoming book, Puro Border: Dispatches, Snapshots and Graffiti from the U.S./Mexico Border, with his son John William Byrd and Mexican writer Luis Humberto Crosthwaite.

Penny Cerling
Penny Cerling is a well-known Houston area artist. Featured in this month's issue of The Santa Fe Broadside are two pieces from her recent series, The Grasses. Penny Cerling is represented by Hooks-Epstein Galleries in Houston, Texas.

Emmy Pérez
Emmy Pérez earned an M.F.A. from Columbia University and has published poems and short stories in many publications, including Prairie Schooner, Indiana Review, Story, and Blue Mesa Review.  She has received poetry fellowships from the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown and the New York Foundation for the Arts.

Jessica Powers
Jessica Powers, Guest Editor, works full time at Cinco Puntos Press as Senior Editor and Publicist. She moonlights as a freelance writer, lover of dogs and scholar of African History. Her first book, a guide to hiking with dogs in the El Paso/Las Cruces region, will be published in 2003 by Cruden Bay Books.

Benjamin Alire Sáenz
Benjamin Alire Sáenz is a professor in the bilingual creative writing program at the University of Texas at El Paso. His latest book of poetry is Elegies in Blue, published by Cinco Puntos Press in 2002.

Joseph Somoza

Connie Voisine
Connie Voisine, a native of Fort Kent, Maine, is an assistant professor of poetry at New Mexico State University. Her book of poetry, Cathedral of the North, won the 1999 Associated Writing Programs' Award Series in Poetry.
