The poems chosen in this issue of the Santa Fe Poetry Broadside were selected from the manuscript The Curvature of the Earth, poems by Gene Frumkin and Alvaro Cardona-Hine, a book forthcoming from UNM Press. I have been fortunate to have been involved with Alvaro as a friend and fellow artist on numerous projects over the past 16 years, and it is through that relationship that I became acquainted with the poetry of Gene Frumkin as well as that of Tom McGrath. Together those three poets formed part of the nucleus of a loosely formed group of artists dedicated to sharing work regularly and teaching to those interested in the Los Angeles area in the late fifties and early sixties.
