Solstice Ghazal

I dive down into my dreams
find you there as if you'd never left.

Heat of summer rises from this red earth
my sweat reminds me winter is lost.

At dawn you lay naked on the blue sofa
dark curly head on purple satin pillows.

[photo] detail of baskets on blanket The language of the flesh contradicts
the mind but never lies.

Crickets sing their endless song
on this longest day.
